Journey Forward [Grow]-Pinterest

This week's Journey post is about Pinterest. Our challenge was to create a pinboard dedicated to our Journey topic. Seeing as how I'm trying to grow financially, this week I decided to pin things that would help me learn a little more about budgeting, saving, and general helpful tips.

See my pinboard here.

Do you have any financial tips or pointers? Hopefully some of these tips will be helpful for some of you as well : )

Do you read MakingSenseofCents blog? It is incredible and has some really good ways to earn some extra cash on the side. Also, do you use swagbucks? I've been trying to use it lately, but I'm still getting the hang of it. I need some help growing financially as well. I hope this was helpful!

We budget *everything*. We actually started doing a cash system for groceries/eating out. So at the beginning of every month, I take cash out for the budget we set for food. Then I meal plan for the week and we are only allowed to use cash for groceries. One the cash is up, we have to eat whatever is in the pantry til the next month rolls around. Luckily, we have not resorted to this since it totally makes me think before I purchase! We are saving a ton because of it!

Growing up my family did the cash system that Kate is talking about and it worked really well for us. You are much more conscience of what you are spending and when it's gone it's gone. Good luck girl!

This is a great goal to work towards! I've labeled this year the "Year of Fiscal Responsibility" and I've been trying hard to save as well. Besides withdrawing cash and keeping that as a set budget, I've been trying a few other things as well. I've almost completely stopped eating out. I make my lunch and bring it to work every day and try to limit dinners out to 2 or 3 times a month. I've also started making my own coffee instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts in the morning. Another trick I've been adopting is purchasing generic brands. The CVS hand lotion works just as well as the brand name and is always cheaper. The same thing goes for grocery store brand items.

My word is grow as well. I am looking more at spiritual and personal growth though. Good luck. :)

I definitely need to check this growth pin board out! I'm in need of some extra cost cutting/money saving tips, even though I'm pretty responsible with my money as it is.
