Wedding Wednesday {bridal shower}

Happy Wednesday!
I'm back with a little wedding business to keep you company on this hump day. Heaven knows it's the only thing that occupies my mind when I'm not busy with work or the boys!

This week's wedding topic is the front runner in my mind lately.
The bridal shower.
Over the last few weeks I've been ironing out details with my momma and MOH. It's been fun and a little stressful (if I'm being honest). I'm under strict orders NOT to stress, but it's just in my blood.

Some shower inspiration via Pinterest!

Jess {the MOH} and I have been talking about decorations, style, the color theme, and the menu. The other day we were talking about how Southern women love throwing a good bridal shower. This then took our conversation in a different direction all together...what do NON-SOUTHERN women do for bridal showers. Neither of us could even think of a bridal shower that we had heard of that wasn't a "southern" one.
-------
Do northerners do bridal showers? Am I just spacing out here?
Are you from a northern or western or eastern state (aka non-southern)? What did you do for your shower? Or, what is the norm for a shower in your family or area? I'd LOVE to know! It's really interesting to me that families and regions celebrate in different ways!

Friday's Letters {winter blues}

Dear Readers, Wanna know something? The winter blues are real--and very similar to a case of the Monday's. I've had a case of the winter blues for the last month or so. I haven't been completely down and out, but I feel like the person in the commercial with the cloud following them around. Except the cloud is a dreary grey/blue and tends to snow.

Dear Blog, The winter blues might explain my absence from you. Or maybe that's just because I'm busy? Dear Time, Seriously! Slow down a bit. I feel like my life is passing by as quickly as the speed of light. Dear boy, You are the best thing. Period. Dear Pinterest recipes, Thank you for not letting me down!! {see some of my favs hereDear New Job, I am still liking you. I could get used to this ;) Dear Weather, SHAPE UP! Weekend Recap {grandma style}

Well, hello Sunday night. I didn't see you there.
This weekend absolutely flew by and I'm not terribly happy about it. As I write this I am spending only 20% of my energy typing...the other 80% is spent struggling to keep my eyes open, attempting to add addresses to a wedding spreadsheet, tuning out the television so I can think straight, and keeping up with the Golden Globe buzz. I can't really complain about all of this, but to be truthful all I want to do is watch Downton Abbey and go to sleep!

Yes, I am fully aware that I sound like a grandma! We've been so busy lately with wedding planning, getting settled into our new place, keeping up with projects, and normal life stuff that I just want to spend a whole weekend sleeping. [insert Snooki whine here] It's a tough life, huh?

Another reason I want to spend lots of time sleeping...it won't stop raining here!
Ryan made the pup a poncho since it's been raining so much! He didn't hate it.

Now, to prove to you that I'm not a total grandma....
here are some pictures from our weekend.
Our desks aren't completely finished, but they are on their way! {excuse the mess}
I added this baby to my desk this weekend.  I'm using it for our wedding invitation maps.
We went out with a few friends on Saturday to enjoy the amazing weather!
We had some delicious food and enjoyed listening to our wedding musician.
A new beer that I tried the other night. It was quite sweet!
Homemade Crunchwrap Supremes that turned out REALLY well!
Lunch with Ryan's granny. Spring mix with gorgonzola cheese and pears?
Count me in!
You see, I'm not a total snore ;)

One last thing we did this weekend....Ryan and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary! 5 down and a lifetime to go!

Check, check. Is this thing on??

Oh my goodness. Blogging. It feels like ages since the last time I wrote a post. Probably because it has been ages since the last one! I am working on getting back into a groove with blogging and such. Naturally things were busy with the holidays, but we threw a few more projects (including moving and more wedding planning) into the mix to max our our time. That's just how we roll :)

I hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying the beginning of the new year. We really enjoyed seeing our families, taking advantage of  family cooking, and just being with our favorite people. That's what the holidays are all about!

I'll try to do a week of update/recap posts to catch myself up...and until then, I'll leave you with a few pics of what's been happening around here.
