Thrifty Tuesday {Honeymoon}

The other day, Neely tweeted about 6pm.com and how they have super affordable prices. Well, I've seen (and been to) 6pm before, but I hadn't thought about them in a long time. I had to fix that on the double--and I'm glad I did!

I went to their site and found some super adorable dresses. They have tons that are affordable, and they'd be perfect for any summer activity. Not only that, but they have a bunch of dresses that are perfect for vacation....or a honeymoon!

This week's Thrifty Tuesday is all about honeymoon dresses.
All dresses are under $25!

Cookie Monster

Hello friends! I'm back with another delicious post for you.
I wanted to share this yummy cookie recipe with you as a Monday pick-me-up!
Yes, I have a major sweet tooth and a good sweet recipe is considered a pick me up around here ;)

I made this recipe as one of the many birthday sweets at our friend's cabin birthday party this past weekend. They were a hit! I usually use lemon cake mix, but I did red velvet just to switch it up a bit. They were definitely delicious, but the lemon is still hands down my favorite! These are so good you'll probably want to try many different cake flavors.
------
What you'll need:
*2 Eggs
*1 Cup of powdered sugar
*1 box of cake mix--any flavor
*1 regular size tub of cool whip (I used Lite)
*1-2 cookie sheets (I used 2 and did 1.5 batches)

Steps 1 - 3
Mix the whole container of cool whip with the two eggs. Then mix in your cake mix. Mixing the cake mix in is very messy--I suggest mixing a little at a time. The mixture gets very sticky, so this should help.

Steps 4 - 5
Preheat your oven to 350ยบ
After you mix everything together put the mix in the fridge for ~30 minutes or until the oven is preheated. Putting the mixture in the fridge helps keep the batter manageable, as it gets very sticky. Do this between batches as well to help.

Steps 6 - 8
Pull out the powdered sugar and put about a cup of it on a plate (you can use a bowl if you'd like). Using a teaspoon, drop balls of batter onto the plate and roll around until covered with powdered sugar. Once they are covered, put them on a greased cookie sheet. Mine were about and inch apart.

Steps 9 - 10
Bake cookies for 11 minutes. Then place on cooling rack for 10-15 minutes (this helps them set!). Then eat them all a few and store the rest!
------
Easy peasy! Enjoy!

Birthday weekends are the best

Oh, hello Monday! I'm actually not too upset about seeing you today. I don't know what's gotten into me, since I usually hate Mondays! Either way, I'm going to enjoy it :)

How was your weekend?

Our weekend was a ton of fun! On Friday we headed out to a friend's cabin for some birthday celebrations--we had a blast! We did lots of 'Merica themed stuff. You know--drinking some adult beverages, shooting guns, and singing to old tunes. I love nights like that with our friends!
Someone got Iced for their birthday!
The Birthday Boy!!
------
On Saturday we just hung out and took it easy. That night we opted to stay in and continue on with our America themed weekend by having people over to watch the Olympics. GO TEAM USA!
-------
On Sunday I spent the majority of the day catching up on old seasons of 90210. I am in serious withdrawal since finishing up The Vampire Diaries, so I figured I would catch up on another show I like while I anxiously await October 11th!

Other than watching trashy tv, I spent the rest of my day eating delicious food.
I caught up with a friend over a yummy lunch at Noodles and Co.
If you have one near you I highly recommend it!
Penne Rosa
For dinner Ryan and I decided to cook together for a change. And boy was it delicious! We made white wine + tomato tilapia with creamy rice and grilled squash. We ended the night with a simple dessert of chocolate and vanilla swirl pudding with crushed Oreos.
Oh my gosh. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Needless to say I'm taking it easy with the food today. I DO have to fit into a wedding dress soon ;)

Friday's Fancies [Pink Champagne]

It's Friday! That means it's time to party! This weekend we're heading to the outskirts of Nashville to a friend's cabin to have a birthday get together for another friend. I am looking forward to making some delicious food, seeing everyone, and just hanging out.

Speaking of partying (though I don't have to party to bring this goodness out!) I picked Pink Champagne as my favorite summer treat--the theme of this week's Friday's Fancies!

This outfit is the perfect mix of blush pink and golden hued champagne. Perfectly girlie and crisp--just like the drink. I imagine wearing something feminine like this for a bridal shower or a family brunch.
Dress // Clutch // Earrings // Champagne Heels  //  Teal Heels
I couldn't make up my mind on the shoes. I think the teal color would really POP, but the champagne ones are just so sleek and put together. Which ones do you like??

Maxi Dress to Maxi Skirt

Hello Hue
Last fall Lindsay wrote this awesome post about using dresses as skirts or shirts. Well, I've been dying to use her tips and pointers to create my own multi-use outfit.

This past weekend I finally took the plunge and wore one of my maxi dresses as a skirt! I never thought I'd get as many compliments on it, but I sure did. AND, I loved wearing it that way.

The original dress:

Mexico :)
The same dress, worn as a Maxi skirt:

That's me in the middle! And Jess, my MOH, to my left. She's wearing an actual maxi skirt :)
And yes, we're usually outfit twins. On accident!
I liked it so much I did it again yesterday too!

The original dress:

On vacation in San Antonio, with the future SIL
The same dress, worn as a Maxi skirt:

Do you like the color combo?
I'm still deciding...
Why did I do that? Because I have a hard time finding maxi dresses and skirts that are the right length. Most are too short, and some too long. With this method  I was able to pick the length, as well as exactly where it sat on my hips. I can also switch them up with different shirts and wear them several ways--I even have a few belts to pair up with them if I want. I haven't bought many in the past, but I might be inclined to buy a few more this fall since I love wearing them this way! Oh, and in case you didn't know, maxi skirts are the most comfortable thing ever!
----------
Do you ever do this?
One of my friends said that this is pretty much the regular thing to do with maxi dresses. Who knew!

Happy Birthday It's OK Thursday!

Happy Thursday, loves!

I have to admit something. Since this past Monday  I've undergone a huge change....I haven't been counting every single second the hours until Friday. Gasp. I don't know what's wrong with me?? Hah I guess I am enjoying my time a little more and I don't have to live through the weekends only. Shew, that's a great feeling! Thank god for new jobs!

Alright, onto more important things....

It's time for It's OK Thursday. But not just any It's OK, but a special one! It's OK Thursday turns one today! Happy Birthday to Neely and Amber!!

--------
Alright alright, now for my It's OK Thursday lineup...

It's OK....

If I try really hard to save money in every way possible while planning our wedding. BUT then spend a little extra on a few things that really matter to me.

If Ryan and I went out to a fancy dinner on accident last night. I love being an adult!
If the butter that they served with our bread at the above mentioned restaurant tasted just like the filling of the pizza flavored Combo snacks. Remember those??

via
If I have been slacking in the social media world lately. I bet you miss me ;)

If I already put together my save the dates and they are sitting in an online shopping cart just waiting....I finished them 4 months early.

If it took me working from home to finally catch up on laundry. For the first time in over a year. Oopsie.

If I sang "Back to School, back to school" while walking down the school supply isle getting a new planner and notebook for the new job. I used to do that every year before school started back!

If I got a little excited when I read that by posting an It's OK post today I get to enter in a giveaway for a $25 Starbucks gift card and a $25 Sephora gift card. Yes, please!!
