Final Countdown to New Orleans!

Happy Friday lovelies!
It's that time....time to head south for some Final Four action in New Orleans LouOrleans! While I'm not participating/following the theme of Friday's Fancies this week, I did create a few outfits to share with you! These are pretty much what I'll be wearing all weekend while we're at CardiGras the Final Four!
These aren't the exact items I own, but are the closest I could get!
Go here to check them all out!
As you can see, I'm all about sporting my favorite team's colors!
What are you guys up to this weekend? If you're a basketball fan, I hope your team is still in the running! Good luck to all of the other basketball fans out there!

Where's Waldo?

Here's another lunchtime post for you ladies! Hope you're enjoying Hump Day! Only two more days until the weekend, and only 3.5 until final four tip-off! I am beside myself with excitement about the upcoming game and trip. I'm counting down the hours and minutes!

Back to blogging business.....Ashlee from AshLeenikoL tagged me in a her post yesterday, so I have a few random questions to answer for you!
1.] Have you ever been to Kentucky?
Yes! I lived there most of my life. I actually lived in Louisville prior to my move to Nashville last May!

2.] Are you chasing your dreams?
I would like to think that everyday gets me a little closer, even though I feel like I'm in a slump right now.

3.] What is your most hated chore?
Dishes by hand...or washing/cleaning the car!

4.] What's your favorite song?
This is so hard! My longest running favorite songs are Imagine (Jack Johnson version) and Better Together by Jack Johnson. I love anything by Jack, John Mayer, and Amos Lee!

5.] If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Graphic Design! I would love for that to be my career. [Did I say that out loud? Oops.]

6.] Do you get mistaken for a celebrity? If so, who?
I have actually been mistaken for Lindsey Lohan, but I don't anymore. I think people stopped telling me that I look like the younger version of her, because it's not polite to tell people they look like a terrible celebrity! Hahaha

7.] Do you visit
Very rarely. Maybe once every few months.

8.] What was the last book you read?
The last book I read in person was the 3rd Hunger Games book. Amazing!

9.] Were you named after anyone?

10.] Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
I rarely wear shoes that tie, but when I do it's 50/50. If I can get them off then I won't untie them, if I can't then I do untie them.

11.] Where's Waldo?
Probably in New Orleans. Don't worry, I'll look for him while I'm there this weekend :)
I'm breaking the rules here....since I just tagged a few people last week, I'm not tagging more people today. Either way, go check out Ashlee's page and read her answers, and the answers that the rest of the ladies posted :)

Need a Lift? [Thrifty Tuesday]

Happy Tuesday friends! It's another beautiful day here in Nashville! I hope you're having a great day as well! As the weather gets nicer, I grow more anxious to revamp my spring and summer wardrobe. On my to-buy list? Wedges! I have been hunting for the perfect brown, leather, strappy ones for close to 2 years. I am a little picky when it comes to this...

I don't want them to be too high. They have to be the right shade of brown. They have to be the right material. The list goes on! After such a long search, I've decided that it's finally here....I'm buying a pair this year! So, this week's Thrifty Tuesday is all about wedges!

Do you have a favorite pair of wedges? Why do you love them? Where are they from? Spill the beans!

P.s. All of these wedges are under $50!

Patty Cakes

Alright ladies, it's finally here! No, I'm not just talking about Friday, I'm also talking about St. Patrick's Day 2012 [eve]! Appropriately, this week's Friday's Fancies theme is St. Patrick's Day.

On Tuesday I posted some cute outfit options to wear out to the local pub or to your neighborhood parade this weekend [see them here]. So, today's outfit is similar and can be worn on any weekend--holiday or not!
I picked a few items that can be mixed well to make other outfits. I also had to slip a few comfy pieces in since [for me, at least] St. Patty's day outfits are all day outfits!
How cute is this skirt mixed with those earrings?
I love those earrings and definitely wouldn't mind owning them!
Are you excited about tomorrow? I am beyond excited for this weekend because (almost) all of my favorite ladies are coming to town to celebrate!

P.s. Check out the rest of the Friday's Fancies outfits here!

Lunch Date!

I thought I would spend a little time with you during my lunch hour.
Let's call it a lunch date, shall we? ; )

Have you seen or heard about this year's newest KitchenAid stand mixer colors??
During the 2012 international home and housewares show KitchenAid released their newest color choices. Yup, the newest colors are Crystal Blue and Frosted Pearl--isn't the pearl one a beauty?? I can't wait until I can get my hands on one of these pretty machines.
P.s. Did you know that they offer over 30 color choices?? Shew-by the time I get the chance to purchase one there will be WAY too many colors to pick from!

Thrifty Tuesday [St. Patty]

Happy Tuesday evening ladies : ) Seeing as it's the week before St. Patrick's day, this week's Thrifty Tuesday will have you seeing green!

I've put together a few [affordable] St. Patrick's day outfits that are designed to be comfortable as well as cute! If you're anything like me, you'll need an outfit that you can wear all day long that can provide lasting stylish comfort! Also, if you're anywhere near TN (or anywhere in the US), then you know that the weather is absolutely unpredictable!
[My biggest hold-up when it comes to picking my outfit for Saturday is not knowing what to expect from the weather!]
Back on topic....I put together a few outfits that would be great to wear to a variety of St. Patrick's day festivities! Most items are from Old Navy, so you could easily go out any buy any of these items!
What are you ladies wearing for St. Patty's day? Any fun plans? Do share!

P.s. I'll most likely be rocking my green boots this Saturday [damn rain!]. Hope you have good luck with the weather this weekend, wherever you may be!

Wishful Thinking

I'm wearing a pair of pants very similar to these today.......
Except, they're paired with army green rain boots.
I wish I was rocking a cute pair of nude heels instead.
I hope you're having a great Monday!

March Madness, anyone?

Is anyone else enjoying a leisurely selection Sunday? Yes, I am a grown woman, but I am beyond excited about March Madness!! We have been glued to the games over the past few days, and thank goodness because we caught some good action!
My "lucky" shirt :)
Yup, we are this year's Big East tournament champions! I am so proud to be a Cardinal fan! Did you watch any basketball this weekend? How did your favorite teams do??

While we did spend a lot of time watching basketball, we also did a few other fun things. Friday we went out to the local farmer's market (which is large, and has events throughout the month)--they have a Meet'N 3 event each month that involves local music, vendors, meeting locals, and [the best part] local food trucks. We had been dying to try the Grilled Cheeserie, so we were happy we finally had a chance to sample the menu!
We tried the B&B. It had buttermilk cheedar, bacon,
and orange&cranberry marmalade!
We didn't try any of the other truck's offerings, because we had other plans for dinner, but we did check out the rest of the menus while we were there.
After our tasty appetizer, we headed further downtown for dinner. I had a craving for sushi [what's new??], so we went to a small local place, Wild Wasabi.
It was our first time there, but I hope we go back soon!
We also tried out a new [to me] coffee shop as well. It had a lot of character and reminded me of my favorite coffee shop in Louisville.
Yes, we were there at night. We're old and drink coffee
at all hours of the day now...
On Saturday we had a busy, busy day. The boy met early in the day with one of his best friends to plan one of their other friends' bachelor party. Of course I had to take advantage of the free time, so I snuck off and did a little thrifting. It was about 3 seconds from being an unsucessful trip, when right before I left, this beauty caught my eye......
J Crew single button blazer in poppy [I believe]
Isn't she pretty? At a whopping $7, she's my most recent favorite steal!

The weather was AMAZING this weekend, so we took advantage of it and spent Saturday afternoon at the part. After playing frisbee, football, and taking a hike we decided it was the perfect time for some Las Paletas.
Even though we went for popsicles, I couldn't resist getting some ice cream instead. Lucky me, the boy got a yummy pineapple blueberry popsicle, so I was able to try both!

Today was pretty much the perfect Sunday. We relaxed, went shopping, played lots of Draw Something (my user name is AshleyMP, come play!), and we were blessed with a UK wildcats loss! [Yes, that makes my weekend amazing x 1,000,000!]
Peanut butter, banana, and honey. The boy makes a mean sandwich!
Do you get it? Ha!
P.s. Proof that we drink coffee at all hours of the's almost 9 on Sunday night and I'm drinking some from my favorite mug as I type this!
What did you do this weekend? I'm sure I tried enough new food for all of us, but did you have a chance to try anything new?

Mono[Gram] Swap!

This past month I was lucky enough to "meet" another blogger through a fun linkup! This linkup had a fabulous theme....monogrammed goodies! Who doesn't love having a few cute monogrammed items it use? When Crystal and Ashley decided to host a monogram goodies swap, I knew it would be a blast picking a few cute items out to send to a new friend, and getting a few in return.

I was paired with Lauren from My Life as a Plate--she was super sweet and fun to talk to (turns out her boyfriend and I are college sports rivals!). I was actually out of town when my swap package arrived--just knowing that it was there waiting for me when I got home made me even more excited about seeing what Lauren picked out!
How cute is the tote that she sent me?? I love it! I have already used it several times. I also used some of the stationary too!

Thanks again Lauren!
P.s. Check out her post about our swap [here].

Friday's Fancies [SB'12]

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Spring Break! While we all know I'm too [dare I say] old for spring break, it doesn't mean a girl can't dream! I have had my fair share of spring vacations to the beach that involve only swimsuits and coverups, so I decided on an outfit that is a little more put together.
One of my favorite parts about going on vacation is the chance to explore a new place. I love to spend a day wandering around a new city, learning what I can from the experience itself, and getting a feel for the local atmosphere. I also LOVE taking pictures, so taking some time to explore is the perfect adventure for me!
This outfit is the perfect combination for a stroll around town! The fun scarf is actually useful (if you're chilly), and the cross body bag is good for staying out of the way while you're walking.
What would you wear on Spring Break? Obviously, if I was vacationing in the warm weather I would pack a few swimsuits, a few fun dresses, some cute new patterned shorts, and sunscreen to go along with this outfit.
[Do you like vacationing where it's warm, or are you more of a snow bunny?]

Be sure to check out the rest of the FF outfits here!

If I Could Be Three Things...

As I sit here at lunch, I'm having a moment.....let's call it [Lunchtime Wisdom], shall we?
I've decided that if I could only be three things, I hope that I could be these:
thankful, courageous, and patient.

What would you pick as your three?

P.s. These two things are always good to remember as well. Be Silly. It really counts..
